John Harvey Kellogg was a medical doctor, inventor, educator, and philanthropist. He was a founder of the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan. He created "The Battle Creek System" of health and nutrition which involved a series of lectures, books, and pamphlets based on what he called "Kellogg's principles." In addition to his work in the area of food production, he developed industrial products for industrial uses such as refrigerators and coffee mills. The industrial products were so successful that they eventually became known worldwide. His legacy lives on through the John Harvey Kellogg Foundation, which is a leading supporter in developing countries around the world.
