We rely on faith only in the context of claims for which there is no sufficient sensory or logical evidence.

About This Quote

The idea that we need faith in order to make decisions is a common one. The idea originally stems from the Bible, where it is mentioned in the Book of Acts, Chapter 14. One day, Paul and Silas were preaching in Philippi, and they invited people to come to them. They received many followers, including the jailer of Philippi who decided to be baptized with them (Acts 16:14).

When night fell, he prayed for his jailers, saying, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (16:30). His sentence wasn’t up yet; therefore, his request for saving grace was not an act of desperation. Rather, he was trusting that God would honor his prayer because he had “believed” (16:31).
