When you run with the Doctor, it feels like it'll never end. But however hard you try you can't run forever. Everybody knows that everybody dies and nobody knows it like the Doctor. But I do think that all the skies of all the worlds might just turn dark if he ever for one moment, accepts it. Everybody knows that everybody dies. But not every day. Not today. Some days are special. Some days are so, so blessed. Some days, nobody dies at all. (In the library, the Doctor walks back to the TARDIS. He stops, looking at the doors. Then he raises his hand, and stands there poised like that for a long moment. Finally he snaps his fingers. The doors open. He smiles slowly and walks in, joining Donna. Then he snaps his fingers again, and the doors close. River's voice continues over this.) Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair, and the Doctor comes to call.. everybody lives. . Steven Moffat
About This Quote

I have been working on a new concept for a long time. I have developed a new theory of life and death, and I am going to tell you all about it. Here is what I think happens. We all die.

Not everyone, but everyone. Everyone dies, every single day of his life. I am going to prove this to you by using a simple example: if you are walking down the street and you step off the curb, you will probably die.

In fact, you will probably die of an injury or an illness or a traffic accident or any of a number of other things that might happen. If you do not die from that accident, then you will go on and live another day and maybe even another week and maybe another year and maybe another decade and maybe, like me, until I am one hundred years old. But no matter what happens to you in your life, no matter what tragedy befalls you or how far you travel through your lifetime; no matter how long your life lasts, eventually you will die as surely as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. This is basic nature; this is human nature; this is the way it has always been; this is the way our world works.

Every single person dies; every single person dies; everyone dies! And so we each must decide: do we want to accept that truth—or do we want to fight against it? A man who chooses to accept his death is called a wise man. A man who refuses to accept it is called a fool. But neither man knows the half of it: we all know that death is right around the corner—but we cannot see it with our eyes.

We must use our minds to understand it, just as we must use our minds to understand love and hate and hope and despair and everything else that makes up our lives on earth. So here is my question: what would happen if everybody fought against death? What would happen if everybody decided to live forever? What would happen if everybody refused to accept death’s claim upon them? What would happen if everybody remained young forever? You would see people everywhere doing amazing things that other people cannot do at all! You would see people living lives that are more glorious than any other people have ever lived before! And what would happen if nobody died? Well... first of all, there wouldn't be any wars anymore because there wouldn't be any soldiers left to fight wars. There
