Ulf Wolf was born in Germany in 1939. He studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg, where he did his clinical training, and received his medical degree in 1965. After serving one year as a medical officer in the German army (he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class) he moved to Frankfurt to work at the Frankfurt University Hospital. He later became chief physician at the Frankfurt Psychiatric Hospital for Children
After his retirement in 1990, he published several books, including Durch die Hölle mit Freudenrufen (Forward Through Hell With Songs of Joy), Fürsorge für Kinder mit Zwangsstörungen (Care for Children with Anxiety Disorders), Physiotherapie für Erwachsene (Physiotherapy for Adults), and Einführung in die Neurophysiologie des Menschen (Introduction to Neurophysiology).
