She is a former journalist at USA Today who has written for numerous magazines and newspapers. The daughter of a Marine Corps veteran who brings home the Vietnam War every day by writing historical fiction books, she was named "One of America's Top Ten Bestselling Women Authors" by Women’s Business Enterprise National Council in 2009. The Southern California native received her MFA from Antioch University in Los Angeles.
