Steve Reich is an American composer and musician. He is best known for his work with the band, the Paul Jacobs Quartet. From 1970 through 1980, he collaborated with La Monte Young, who was also a member of the Quartet. He has received numerous awards, including two Pulitzer Prizes, the New York City Mayor's Award, the National Medal of Arts, and the Guggenheim Fellowship.
