Philip Slater is the author of the award-winning book, "Journey to the West: An Epic Novel of the Most Remarkable Journey in History." He is also the author of "The Last Supper," "The Return of Jesus Christ," and "The Last Man on the Moon." He was raised in Maryland, and received his BA from Howard University in Washington, D.C. He graduated with honors with a degree in psychology in 1971. While teaching at Howard University in Washington, D.C., he wrote extensively on the psychology of education. After moving to New York City in 1975, Mr. Slater began writing for magazines like Odyssey and Travel & Leisure. His articles have appeared in many publications including The Wall Street Journal, Reader's Digest, Gourmet Magazine, Playboy Magazine, The New York Times Magazine; he is also published in various anthologies including "The Great Books of the Western World" and "A Treasury of Great American Literature." Philip currently resides with his wife in Brooklyn Heights.
