Noel Streatfeild (1899–1988) was an English author who wrote over thirty books of advice for children. She was born Noel Streatfeild Mitchell in London, the daughter of John George Mitchell, a stockbroker and landowner, and Margaret (née Bostock). Her father moved the family to Australia in 1911, where they remained until 1917, when they returned to England where she spent most of her childhood. In 1919, she began working as a governess and, in the 1920s and 1930s, took jobs with publishers
She married Frederick Streatfeild in 1935 and moved to Devon with him in 1946; he died in 1973.
