Jeremiah Wright is an African American minister, author, orator, and social critic. He was the senior pastor of Liberation Christian Church in Chicago for 25 years before retiring in May 2008. Wright is also a professor of theology at the Chicago Theological Seminary. Wright was named Man of the Year by Ebony magazine in 2001 and received the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award in 2006 for his outspokenness on issues of politics and religion in America.
