You might see your dog or cat happily heading out for a walk, only to return home hours later with no recollection of how they got back home. The pain felt after losing an animal doesn't compare to the pain that comes with losing a loved one though. Losing someone is like having your heart ripped out of your chest. The feeling can be so intense that you would rather die than deal with it again.
