I spent much of my prison time reading. I must have read over 200 large books, mostly fictional stories about the American pioneers, the Vikings, Mafia, etc. As long as I was engrossed in a book, I was not in prison. Reading was my escape.

About This Quote

The fact that one can read a book and not be imprisoned is a great blessing. While those who are imprisoned are those who have offended others or those who have committed crimes, those who read books are those who have done no wrong . Those who read books can be free from prison because they have done no wrong, but reading a book still keeps them from doing wrong to others.
