About This Quote

As a child, I was told the story of Little Red Riding Hood. In this story, a wolf came upon a grandmother carrying food to her children. In an attempt to eat Grandma, the wolf disguised himself as Grandma and carried the food to the children. After a few days, when Little Red Riding Hood went out to collect the food, she was shocked at seeing her grandmother with a basket of food instead of her wolf.

She then asked her “Grandmother what happened to you?” Initially, Grandma was very embarrassed about having her grandchild see her like that. Eventually though, she explained that the wolf brought the food home and made her look like herself so that she would be able to take care of the children. The moral of this story is that although we may take credit for our successes, they are often borne out of luck rather than talent or effort.
