Sir Arthur Jermyn was an English nobleman who lived in the sixteenth century. He was not very successful at the time, his only achievement was to be created Earl of St. Albans. However, he decided to make a big change in his life, he started wearing rags and soaking himself in oil on a regular basis.
He did this for four years until finally his clothes fell off him. The next day, he was offered a position as master of St. Paul’s School, but he declined the position because of his poverty.
However, this decision made him even more famous.
