This quote has multiple meanings that all tie into the same theme: A woman who uses sex as a way to manipulate others. It also alludes to the old saying, “Jack be nimble, Jack be quick.” This famous saying comes from a collection of stories about a man named Jack and his wife Jill. I like to use this as an example of how people will categorize and interpret things and their meaning can often times change depending on who is looking at it. Personally I can use this as an example of how men were mostly considered the leader and the woman the follower in society at that time and that women were seen as more inferior than men (notice the phrase “A little whore”).

For those familiar with Shakespeare’s plays I can also see this as an example of how he was regularly criticized for his depiction of men as being stronger than women (see “the greatest glory in living lies not...”). However, once again we have a man who used his words to say something very different from what people understood them to mean at the time.
