William L. Logan is an American entrepreneur and the founder of the William Logan Cosmetics Company, which is best known for its long-lasting color cosmetics, lipsticks and eyeliners. The company was founded in 1876 by William Logan, Sr., and in 1897 it merged with the Garrett & Co. cosmetics manufacturer
In 1919, following a fire that destroyed most of the company's manufacturing facilities in New York City, the company relocated to Los Angeles. In 1932, William Logan Jr., who served as president of the company from 1919 until his death in 1929, assumed control of the company following his father's death. Under his leadership the company moved into a large new factory complex in Hollywood, California.
In 1935, William Logan Jr.'s son, Joseph Alexander Logan, took over as head of the company and continued to lead it until his own death in 1960. The company was run by a board of directors until 1965 when Joseph's son William L. Logan III became president and CEO of the company.
