Walter Matthau (born Walter Martin Matthau; November 14, 1920 – January 14, 2000) was an American actor and comedian. He was best known for his performances in films such as The Odd Couple (1970), The Fortune Cookie (1966), Charade (1963), The Klist (1963), Bananas (1971), and The Odd Couple II (1994). He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Charade.
