Ted Olson is the United States Solicitor General and Chief Legal Counsel for President George W. Bush. Prior to his appointment, he served as Associate White House Counsel and Special Assistant to the President and as Dean of the University of California's Hastings College of the Law from 2002 - 2005. He was a partner at the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher from 1994 until 2002, when he became a senior partner at the law firm of Hogan & Hartson, where he worked on national security issues
