Born in 1928, Susannah York is best known for her roles as a child actress and as the leading lady of film noir during the 1940s and 1950s. Her films include "None But the Brave" (1944), "The Man in Grey" (1946), "The Lady Is a Square" (1947), and "The Wicked Lady" (1955). As an adult York appeared in films such as "The Misfits" (1961) and "The Chalk Garden" (1971). York also made several television appearances, including an episode of The Twilight Zone ("Nightmare at 20,000 Feet"), as well as the pilot movie for The Sopranos

London-born York was married to actor Michael Wilding from 1950 to 1959; they had two children. She went on to marry English director and screenwriter Basil Dearden in 1964. She died of cancer on May 5, 2003, aged 80.
