Sparky Anderson is a retired Major League Baseball (MLB) player, manager, and team executive. He was the first base coach for the Oakland Athletics during the 1976 World Series and managed the Cincinnati Reds from 1979-1989. He managed the New York Yankees from 1990–2001 and was the manager of the Detroit Tigers (2002–2009).
