He became the first U.S. Governor to serve two full terms since Reconstruction and left office in 2003 with an 83% approval rating from Georgians. Sonny is currently a businessman and farmer based in Macon, Georgia.
He has been married to his wife, Kitty, for more than 40 years and has four children and seven grandchildren: David Perdue (Georgia State Senator), Katie Perdue (wife of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue), Nathan Perdue (Georgia State Senator), Lacey Perdue (wife of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue), Casey Perdue (wife of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue) and Jacob Perdue (son-in-law of former Governor Sonny Perdue).
