Simin Hashemizadeh is a professor of English at the University of Maryland, and has been an author for over a decade. Her first book, The Fire in Me: How I Learned to Love and Live to Write, was published in February 2014. This is her second children's book to publish, and her first since she began writing for children. Simin has written six other novels and six non-fiction books and has won numerous awards for her work
