Scott Jurek is a trail running legend. He has been recognized as one of the most respected voices in the sport of ultra running. Jurek started his career as a professional runner in 1991, winning numerous national and international races, including the Badwater Ultramarathon at 135 miles (217 km) and the Trans-America Footrace at 3,000 miles (4,828 km). He set seven course records at Badwater, winning twice. As an ultra runner, he holds five course records on the Appalachian Trail, three on the Pacific Crest Trail, two on the Continental Divide Trail and has won nine Western States Endurance Run titles.
He also holds course records at the Western States 100 Mile Run (14:50), Western States 100 Mile Trail Run (15:02), Barkley Marathons (45:43), Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run (54:05), Pikes Peak Marathon (7:53) and the Clifton Gorge 100 Mile Endurance Run (8:37).
