Sam Snead was born on October 10, 1899 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The son of a Presbyterian minister, he grew up playing golf and hunting. He turned professional in 1925 and soon became one of the great golfers of his day. In his prime, Snead won a total of thirty-eight tournaments on the PGA Tour and a total of forty-five PGA titles
He won his first major at the age of thirty-one, and after his mid-life crisis, he came back to win the Masters Tournament again in 1962. In his later years, he mellowed down a bit, but as a friend to many players, as well as a golfer with a sense of humor, it was never too late to find out what Sam Snead was doing next.
