Rona Simmons is the president and chief executive officer of Marvel Entertainment. Simmons has been involved in various positions within Marvel for over 25 years. She started her career as a secretary for Marvel Comics, then worked her way up to the position of editorial assistant. Simmons became assistant to publisher Stan Lee in 1974
She was promoted to editor-in-chief at Marvel in 1978, where she was responsible for the creative development of all Marvel characters, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, Daredevil, and The X-Men. In 1984 she became publisher of Marvel Comics, running both its comic book and publishing divisions until 1988. Simmons became president and chief operating officer of Marvel Entertainment Group in 1989.
She was promoted to president and chief executive officer in 1995.
