Richard Gentle, along with his wife, Linda Gentle, has founded The Foundation For Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), the leading civil liberties organization working to protect the fundamental freedoms of students on American college campuses. FIRE has won multiple victories at universities across the country, including the rescission of unconstitutional speech codes. His writings on education reform and free speech have appeared in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
