Rebecca Walker is a writer, teacher, and activist. A descendant of slaves and an African-American woman, she has spent her life exploring the connections between the legacies of these histories. Her books include "Between Two Fires" (1995) and "Black, White, and Jewish: Being Black, Being Jewish, and Belonging in the Diaspora" (2002), which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
