Peter Lewis Allen was born in Germany, but moved to England at the age of one. He was educated at Stowe School and Trinity College, Cambridge. After university he joined his father's company, which manufactured packaging films for the dairy trade, where he worked for fifteen years. He then became a journalist and writer, working with many national newspapers, magazines and broadcasters
His first book was published in 1964 and since then he has published twenty-one more novels.
