Oswald Mosley was born in London in 1896 and died in 1980. He was a British Labour Party politician and a leading figure in the British Union of Fascists, which he founded in 1932. He was Leader of the BUF from 1933 until 1940, when he resigned from the party to protest its German links. In the general election of 1945 he stood as a candidate for Parliament for the Labour Party, but was defeated by a large majority
In 1948, having been elected to Parliament for Labour in 1945, he became a member of the National Executive of the Labour Party. He represented Orpington South from 1955 to 1964 and then Romford until 1974. He did not stand again in Parliament after his defeat at the 1964 election.
