Olive Higgins Prouty, author of "The Secret History of Men's Fashion" and "The New Rules of Fashion", is an acclaimed fashion historian and a leading figure in American culture. She is a sought-after speaker, writer and consultant on the subject of the future of fashion. She was a founding member of The Fashion Museum in New York City, and she has been a contributing editor for Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, as well as for many other publications. Her first book, "The Secret History of Men's Fashion", was published by Doubleday in 1978
In 1981 it was reissued by Bantam Books. Her second book, "The New Rules of Fashion", was published by HarperCollins in 1990. She has also published articles for Vanity Fair, House Beautiful, House & Garden, Forbes, The New York Times Magazine, Town & Country and The Wall Street Journal .
