Neill F. Marriott has been a lifelong student of the principles of success. In 1944, he cofounded The Institute for Excellence, a private business school in Chicago. He then became a founding partner and executive director of the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University, where he served as dean for twenty-five years. In 1966, he joined the faculty at the University of Utah as a professor of management and a member of the Board of Regents
In 1975, Dr. Marriott was named president of Brigham Young University (BYU) and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1990. Dr. Marriott is currently President Emeritus of BYU and serves on the Advisory Board for the Black Mountain Institute at Duke University.
He is also on the board of directors for Loyola Marymount University's School of Business Administration. Dr. Marriott is an Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America) and recipient of the National Distinguished Public Service Award, given by the Boy Scouts to individuals who have demonstrated public service excellence by enriching their communities through volunteerism or public service on behalf of youth or schools. He previously received The Silver Beaver Award from The Boy Scouts of America, presented to him by President David O.
McKay in 1954 for outstanding leadership among American youth leaders.
