Michel Montaigne was born in 1977 in Saint-Pierre, Martinique. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Martinique, then went on to study art history at the Sorbonne in Paris. His second book, Marie et moi, was published in 2010. In 2012, Michel Montaigne made his feature film début with Démences et autres réactions (aka "Homicides dans la tête"). After the release of this film, he signed a deal with French media company Gaumont Television to produce several films based on his works.
In 2013, he created a production company called Le Village Film and has since produced a number of films including his first television series entitled Danse avec les morts (2016), which is about a man who believes that the dead are still alive and tries to make new friends after meeting a young girl who can see ghosts.
