Luis Bunuel (March 6, 1906 - August 22, 1983) was a Spanish director, writer, and actor. He is best known for his surrealist films (such as Un Chien Andalou), but his career also included important contributions to filmmaking of other genres. His film Taste of Honey (1961) won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film (it was the first Spanish language film to win this award).
