Born in 1921 (some sources give 1926), Lena Horne (born Eleanora Fagan) was one of the great Jazz-era singers and performers of the 1940s through the 1960s. She is known for her jazz vocals, but is also an accomplished actress. She appeared in many films, including Carmen Jones with Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier, A Raisin in the Sun, and The Blue Bird. She appeared on television series such as I Spy.
