Layne Beachley is a retired Australian professional surfer and the first woman to have won the world surfing championship. She is also a two-time world champion in skimboarding and a three-time world champion in stand-up paddle surfing. In 1996, she was inducted into the International Surfing Hall of Fame. In 1999, she was named one of Australia's Top 100 Most Influential People
Today she lives with her husband in Byron Bay, New South Wales.
