Kelly Sue DeConnick is an American comic book and graphic novel writer and artist who is known for her work on the Marvel Comics’ Captain Marvel title. She is also known for co-creating and scripting the webcomic Bitch Planet, which was nominated for a 2009 Eisner Award. She has been writing and drawing comics since she was nine years old. DeConnick studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City from 2002 to 2006, working as a letterer for Marvel Comics.

Writing is hard. Writing that is good, writing that is powerful enough to evoke a change or an authentic emotion or even just an idea in another human being is about as mysterious as an alchemical recipe, but there are a few known ingredients. Craft? Yes, absolutely. Devotion? A load - yes! Humility? Not vital, I suppose, but all my favorites include at least a dash.
