John Rhys-Davies is a Welsh actor. He achieved international recognition for his role as Sallah in the first two Indiana Jones films, and has since appeared in a wide range of roles including the voice of Mufassa in The Prince of Egypt, and the voices of Gollum and Sméagol in the animated film The Lord of the Rings. He also appeared as Professor Godbole, a mentor to Harry Potter's Dumbledore, in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. He has received an International Emmy Award nomination for Best Actor "for his portrayal of King Arthur in Merlin: The Sword and the Stone."
