John Grierson, a close friend of Booker T. Washington, made his mark in the world of African-American cinema with his direction of his own films and those of other black filmmakers. He was a pioneer in the early days of advertising and film. His films told stories that were often based on his own experiences or on those of friends and associates
He was a tireless worker who did not miss a single opportunity to promote the idea of the dignity and equality of all people.
