Jacques-Yves Cousteau is a French oceanographer and explorer with over forty years of experience in underwater exploration and research. He is most well known for his role in the development of the Aqualung, a self-contained undersea breathing apparatus. Cousteau is also known for his conservation efforts with the Ocean Futures Society and environmental advocacy. He is also the founder of the Cousteau Society for the protection of marine life and education in oceanic studies.
