His novels include The Duke And I, The Desperate Duchess, A Marriage of Inconvenience, The Governess Affair, and The Rake's Progress. He has also written numerous short stories and novellas, as well as an article for the original Playboy magazine. He is the winner of the Golden Quill Award twice (1987 for The Duke And I and 2005 for The Desperate Duchess) and the Daphne du Maurier Award (1992) for his novel A Marriage of Inconvenience
