Hector Perez is a Venezuelan-American author and poet. He was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1979. He spent his youth studying Advertising and English Literature. His work has been published in the United States and numerous other countries
In 2001 he won the prestigious "Best of Student" award from the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy. In 2004 he received "The Golden Pen Award" for his poem "My Son," which won the prestigious International Cooper Prize during its Latin American edition. His first book, The Children of Hydra, was originally published in Spanish in 2004 and was translated into English and published by Mira Press in 2005.
His second book, The Children of Hydra: Una Novela Juvenil (A Young Adult Novel), was published by Mira Press in 2007. His latest novel, The Fire Rose, was released on June 1st 2009 by Mira Press/Mira Editions.
