Hamsa Priya Selvam is an Indian author and a columnist for a Tamil newspaper. She was born in a village called Nanjikottai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. She wrote her first book, The Journey of Life at the age of eighteen. Her family wanted her to marry a boy from the same village and live there
She went on to pursue higher studies in English literature at Chennai's Presidency College. She took up a job as a teacher in a school before becoming a full-time writer. Selvam has written several books in Tamil, including Annaal Aazhi Puthiya Katha (The True Story of Love) and Aalayam Seethamma Vaithikiyam (The Women's Center).
