His research has been featured in the Boston Globe, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and other national publications. He received his Ph.D. in communication from Michigan State University in 1985.
Dr. Johnson's writings have appeared in numerous publications including the Village Voice, the Nation magazine, Politics & Society, Communication Monographs, Public Culture, Social Communication Quarterly, Critical Studies in Media Communication, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and various textbooks on communication theory and journalism history.
