Gaby Hoffmann was born in Caracas, Venezuela. The daughter of a teacher and engineer, she grew up in the Dominican Republic and New York City. She holds an MFA in playwriting from Columbia University's School of the Arts and has worked as a television producer, the head of marketing for the Latin American division of Penguin Books, and an assistant to Robert De Niro. Her play “Eden” was developed into the film “Little Egypt” starring Sienna Miller and Rachel Weisz
Hoffmann lives in New York City with her husband and their two children.
