Winner of the Newbery Honor for The Summer I Turned Pretty (1995), she is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the American Library Association's Alex Award, the ALA's Margaret A. Edwards Award for Historical Fiction, and the School Library Journal's Best Books of the Year. Dana lives in Michigan with her husband
