Christopher Hampton (born 14 January 1946) is a playwright and screenwriter, living in London. He was educated at the University of Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He worked as a production stage manager with the Royal Shakespeare Company between 1969 and 1973. He is best known for his work in film, including The Theory of Flight, Dancer in the Dark, Gosford Park and Atonement
He has adapted three of his plays for screen, including The Talking Head (1994) and The Self-Made King (1995).
