Chioma Nkemdilim is a Nigerian novelist and columnist. She writes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Her nonfiction work focuses on gender issues in Africa. Her poetry focuses on Nigerians' experiences as immigrants to Europe and the United States, as well as diasporas from Africa to the Americas
She has received many awards for her writing including the Commonwealth Prize for Literature (2011) and the Norwegian Booksellers Prize (2012). In 2011 she also received an honorary doctorate from City University of New York Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. She was also named one of Africa's 100 Women Leaders by the BBC.
