He earned a master’s degree from Columbia University School of International Affairs in 1954 and a law degree from New York Law School in 1959. In 1959 he founded the firm of Levin & Green, which built on its reputation for excellence by becoming one of the nation’s leading class action firms. In 1972 he represented the plaintiffs of the first large-scale class action litigation to be filed against an oil company—the Pennzoil Company.
From 1969 to 1972 he was chairman of the firm, and was named partner in 1973.
