Dr. Apostolos Doxiadis is a Greek-American musician, filmmaker, and writer. He is known as a groundbreaking figure who has been active in film, music, literature and journalism. He was born in Athens on July 11th, 1952
In both film and music, he has produced and directed more than 80 documentaries and feature films. He has written several books of fiction and non-fiction, plays, novels and short stories. He was a journalist for more than 30 years for newspapers such as the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times.
He has won numerous awards including the National Headliner Award for Excellence in Journalism for his investigative series “The Mafia’s Invisible Empire” which exposed the US Mafia's involvement in the international heroin traffic via its control of the powerful fraternal organization of La Cosa Nostra (the Sicilian Mafia). His book "La Mafia" ("The Mafia") was praised by the New York Times as “one of those rare works that can be read with pleasure each time it is read.”
