Andrew Rosenthal is a journalist who lives outside of New York City. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism. As a student at Penn, he began interning for The Daily Pennsylvanian, the student newspaper. His work at the DP earned him the attention of legendary publisher Harold Guinzburg, who hired him as an editorial assistant for Esquire Magazine

Upon graduation from Penn, Rosenthal was hired as an editorial assistant for The New York Times. After two years there he moved to Washington, D.C., to take a job with then-Assistant Secretary of State Herman J. Cohen.
Cohen brought Rosenthal on as his press secretary and eventually promoted him to Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs. In 1977, Rosenthal left his government job to become the Executive Director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
