Andrea Bouchaud is a researcher at Université de Neuchâtel, where she leads the Laboratory of Food and Nutrition Sciences (LFNS), and is also affiliated with the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (ISB). She was elected corresponding member of the Academia Europaea in 2014. Her research interests are in food science, nutrition, and food safety. She was co-responsible for the Institute of Food Science and Technology (IoST), which was founded in 2009 on the University of Neuchâtel campus

As part of IoST, she is also responsible for two other laboratories on the same campus: the Laboratory of Food Chemistry and Technology (LFCT) and the Laboratory of Functional Foods (LFF). Her current research involves understanding how bioactive molecules in foods impact human health, with special attention to the glycemic index.
